HISTORY The Alabama Alternative Risk Alliance was incorporated in 2025 and launched membership operations in 2026. The Association was established to support the continued growth and development of Alabama's captive insurance and alternative risk industry by providing a platform for education, collaboration, professional engagement, and industry leadership. ALARA's Founding Members recognized the importance of creating an organization dedicated to serving Alabama's alternative risk community and committed their resources, expertise, and leadership to establishing a lasting foundation for the Association's future success. Today, ALARA serves as a forum for industry stakeholders to connect, learn, share ideas, and work together to support a strong and sustainable future for Alabama's captive insurance marketplace. | A COLLABORATIVE APPROACH ALARA was founded on the belief that a strong captive insurance industry is built through collaboration. The Association provides a forum where captive owners, risk retention groups, service providers, advisors, regulators, and industry professionals can share knowledge, exchange ideas, and work together to support a healthy and sustainable alternative risk marketplace. By encouraging open dialogue and professional engagement among all stakeholders, ALARA seeks to strengthen industry relationships, promote understanding of alternative risk solutions, and support the continued development of Alabama's captive insurance industry. |
BUILT BY INDUSTRY LEADERS ALARA's Founding Members include organizations that helped shape Alabama's captive insurance industry from its earliest days. Among them are the first and second captive insurers licensed in Alabama following the enactment of the Alabama Captive Insurance Act in 2006, as well as Alabama's first licensed captive Risk Retention Group. Their leadership, experience, and commitment provide a unique foundation for the Association and reflect ALARA's dedication to supporting the continued advancement of Alabama as a premier domicile for captive insurers and alternative risk solutions. Alabama: 20 Years of Captive Success As Alabama marks two decades as a captive insurance domicile, the continued success of these pioneering organizations reflects the strength, stability, and collaborative regulatory environment that have supported Alabama's captive insurance marketplace since 2006.
All represented among ALARA's Founding Members. Their continued success serves as a testament to Alabama's long-standing commitment to supporting captive insurers and alternative risk structures and reflects the collaborative efforts of industry stakeholders, service providers, and the Alabama Department of Insurance in fostering a strong and sustainable captive insurance marketplace. |
